I ended up at Donkey Mobile more or less by chance. I received a message from Henrik on LinkedIn asking if I’d be interested in meeting up. At the time, I was working as an AI developer for a company that builds scanning vehicles, and I wasn't actually looking for a new job. But I thought it would be great to meet the founder of Donkey Mobile, the app we use in my own church.
During our conversation, Henrik told me he was looking for an AI specialist to expand the app's features. Henrik is full of ideas and has a clear vision for his company, which I found inspiring. After that first meeting, we had several follow-up conversations. The more I learned about Donkey Mobile, the more enthusiastic I became. When it turned out they were not only looking for an AI specialist but also someone to take on technical leadership, I saw it as a great opportunity. The role fits my knowledge and experience really well, and that's how I ended up joining Donkey Mobile as CTO.
I'm really impressed by the app Donkey Mobile has managed to develop. An app for the church that runs smoothly, feels intuitive, and is built to a high standard. What's more, Donkey Mobile isn't just about creating useful features that churchgoers are willing to pay for. The products we build should genuinely help the church fulfill its calling. After all, as a church, we're not simply an association of Christians, but a people with God as our King, called to follow Christ and show the world who God is. When a company has great ideas about how to help the church live out that calling, I'm more than happy to contribute!
What I enjoy about my role is how varied it is. As an AI specialist, I work on Donkey Echo, the AI features for church service streams. This includes creating sermon summaries and using AI to find parts of sermons that relate to questions people have about life, making those clips easy to share on social media. As CTO, I also want to ensure that the vision of this wonderful company and the technical development of its products go hand in hand. Ultimately, the goal is to provide churches in the Netherlands and beyond with the technical support they need in their everyday ministry.
